Campus Life

Sitting in my office (I work at a college campus), I hear the 'darndest things.' Frequently, I wonder if students remember that I am here, in my office below the theatre, and can hear everything they say. Sometimes I'm even nice and ask them :) Most of the time, they don't seem to care and I'm left more embarassed by what they did this weekend than the 50+ people walking by.

In my many years working with students and in offices, here is what I have determined:

LUNCHTIME: After sitting at your desk for a minimum of 6 hours, you finally pull yourself away from your desk to eat/ see sunshine/ go outside. No calls received during this period of time. While at lunch, you come back only to find 6 missed calls and 5 voice mails. I wish I could be hired as the person who calls the world, telling people that you're away from your desk and people can now call. This is also when higher-ups will call you. Then, do they wonder, why is this girl *never* at her desk??

BREAK: Eating at your desk with students still stopping by, some not giving you a minute to swallow before asking their question(s).

BCC: Something not everyone is familiar with, helpful when sending emails to an entire campus or distribution list with more than 3 people. #researchtechnologypeople

ACTORS: A constant source of entertainment. Energetic. Important to know when they are acting a scene or just conversing.

A few pictures from life since you've listened to me ramble:

Starbucks is selling these really cute teddy bears!

I LOVE iced tea, you can't have too much :)

My Week: August

Wow... just found this post from August: never got posted and was saved as a draft, oops!

My week in not so many words:

Monday: Auditions until late into the night #entertaining
Tuesday: "Best if used by April 16, 2012" #hummusfail
Wednesday: Zuma Cafe with a wonderful friend, so great catching up and easy conversation!
Thursday: More auditions late. Found a fork in my tea, not sure how it got there though presumably I did it :)    Treated myself to an early birthday treat:

Friday: #exhausted

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I absolutely love dressing up and Halloween! Last year, I loved the costume I put together, I was a disco queen:

I feel so grateful that in times when others are experiences hurricanes and flooding, I have beautiful blue skies and warm weather:

I FINALLY got to play mini golf with friends last weekend and it was a blast! I cannot remember the last time I went, at least 15 years! The best part, I got a hole in one on the first hole! I came in last but still :)

More beautiful weather! I never get tired of it.

This weekend we celebrated my Grandma's life, I miss her so much. The weather in Morro Bay was blue sky, she would have loved that.

I LOVE Halloween, it is my favorite holiday. I didn't have inspiration for a costume this year so I went as a tired musician (not far off) and wore all black and an orange top. Someone made these at work, so cute!

My grandmother's favorite holiday was Halloween too. My dad decorated with these decorations and let me keep them so I decorated my office. Love them!

Birthday Shenanigans

My BIG birthday this year was on a Monday and... I've noticed that the past big ones have been on weird days as well. On Friday, September 7 I went to Dargan's Irish Pub (one of my favorite places in Santa Barbara) and had drinks/ dinner with friends.
Love me some Stella
Saturday I went hiking with two great friends and that night A. and I had dinner with some of our closest friends and their adorable kids.

On Sunday, September 9, my favorite man and I went sky diving and it was incredible!!! I've been wanting to go for as long as I can remember and I am so grateful it happened.

Skydive Santa Barbara, Lompoc Airport

And of course I treated myself to a Starbucks on my birthday, I LOVE Sbux hot chocolate.

On my actual birthday I worked a lot and went straight from my main job to tutoring and this beautiful flower was outside of his house:
Anyone know what kind it is?

This is what campus looked like when I arrived the morning of my birthday, pretty awesome!

I've been trying to enjoy my lunch breaks in SB since I know nothing is permanent. You can't tell in the picture, but the wood fish have the fish specialties written on it. Creative!

My parents came into town for my birthday and this was the delicious combination appetizer plate:

Overall I am so thankful for being able to bring in a big bday with such a bang, definitely one for the record books!!

Recent Trips

I LOVE traveling and I LOVE driving places. I have my best ideas when driving, thus I always carry pads of paper and pens within in reaching distance while I drive. (Don't worry, I never look down, I scribble and decipher later)  :)

This weekend A. and I got to go on a wonderful trip up north. The first day we went to Hearst Castle:

This is the front entrance to the main house. It was a beautiful day!

One of the many statues and tapestries on the wall.

We got to see elephant seals on the way up!

Sunday we went to the Monterrey Aquarium
